In order to provide our students with the best environment for language learning, we offer accommodation with a German host family. What has been learnt in class can be applied straight away in conversation with the host family, and in addition, students can thereby gain a good insight into German culture.

Host Families come in all shapes and sizes: in addition to the classic family of two parents and children, we also have single parents with children, and sometimes parents whose children have already left home.

The students normally stay in double rooms in the house or flat of the family and have breakfast and dinner served by the family. For lunch we have an arrangement with a cafeteria close to the Institute which has a couple of menus to choose from.

For groups, accommodation is organised in shared or single rooms in a youth hostel. Here we have a special arrangement with the Studentendorf Schlachtensee eG, which is situated in the south of Berlin. It is close to a beautiful lake, where lots of local young people go swimming or sunbathing on the beach.

The Schlachtensee student village offers lots of facilities for young people. There is a fitness room, a bar and cafeteria, laundry, a computer room and a TV room. Students also have the option of cooking their own meals in the kitchen. Breakfast is generally offered by the hostel.
