In the course of the Bologna Process, the number of English-taught degrees offered by German and European universities is growing. This expanded range of courses are putting higher demands on the English skills of German and European lecturers.

EURASIA is staying abreast of this trend.  We offer tailored professional development courses in English for Lecturers and University Staff:

The EURASIA-Institute offers German universities intercultural seminars on awareness-raising in interaction with Chinese students. The seminars are primarily aimed at staff in government authorities or in Student Secretariats, but also at students, tutors and lecturers who come into contact with foreign, and particularly Chinese, students on the university campus.

The introductory seminar Chinese Cultural Norms^pdf and the continuation workshop on Chinese culture^pdf take an analytical and self-critical look at the intercultural clashes between Chinese and Germans, which can render both parties helpless and unable to communicate when they come into contact with each other in everyday university life.

The seminar^pdf offers a grounding in Chinese history and culture as well as current social developments in China. In addition, they impart the basics of intercultural communication and behaviour skills. Taking our own cultural norms as a starting point, we examine some important Chinese cultural norms.
