Global solutions for effective communication
Intercultural training for University staff

The EURASIA-Institute offers German universities intercultural seminars on awareness-raising in interaction with Chinese students. The seminars are primarily aimed at staff in government authorities or in Student Secretariats, but also at students, tutors and lecturers who come into contact with foreign, and particularly Chinese, students on the university campus.

The introductory seminar Chinese Cultural Normspdf and the continuation workshop on Chinese culturepdf take an analytical and self-critical look at the intercultural clashes between Chinese and Germans, which can render both parties helpless and unable to communicate when they come into contact with each other in everyday university life.

The seminarpdf offers a grounding in Chinese history and culture as well as current social developments in China. In addition, they impart the basics of intercultural communication and behaviour skills. Taking our own cultural norms as a starting point, we examine some important Chinese cultural norms.

In the continuation workshop on Chinese culturepdf, the Chinese way of learning, as well as particular Chinese cultural standpoints which are significant in a university context are looked at in greater depth. Through interactive exercises and role play, as well as discussion of case studies, effective solutions for intercultural clashes are worked out together with the participants.
