In step one we analyse your present investment portfolio, style and objectives and create a SWOT analysis of the related industry and investment opportunities in Germany. What do I need to set up a business in Germany?
- Minimum age requirement 18 years old
- No prohibition from practising the chosen profession – neither in Germany nor in the home country nor any third country
- Clean criminal record verification (required for some professions) – e.g. European Certificate of Good Conduct or comparable document
- Confirmation of eligibility for business visa / residence permit of settlement permit
What do I need to register a company in Germany?
- Company shareholder agreement (where relevant)
- Basic tax advice on optimal company form

- Bank account and statement of paid-up capital
- Contract of employment between the company and managing director

What do I need to apply for residence permit for the purpose of self-employment?
- Valid passport and confirmation of police registration at a residential address
- Completed business plan incl. economic benefit and job creation profile with reference to the local economic landscape and job market.
- Completed finance plan including a catalogue of private and/or business assets to be implemented and/or proof of a bank loan which has been accepted
- Completed procedures of company registration (Handelsregister) and trade office registration (Gewerbeamt) if necessary
- Valid health insurance – either as a company employee through the German state health insurance scheme or as a managing director with my own private health insurance policy
- Private rental contract or proof of ownership of residential property in Germany as well as proof of monthly costs/payments either for rent or mortgage payments for the place of residence
- (Only if over the age of 45 years) Proof of sufficient capital or pro-jected pension income to finance retirement in Germany. Projected retirement income must be a minimum of 1.280,06€ per month for at least 144 months. Projected capital must be at least 187.682€ as a lump sum.
- (If a graduate of a German university) Convincing resumé and letter of reference from alma mater concerning business plan and relevance to the field of study or research.
- Finalised portfolio of all registration documents including the relevant form and one biometrical photo plus the fees (presently 100€ 01.01.2020)
