History of HTW Berlin<\/h3>\n\n
\n<\/p>
The historical roots of today\u2019s university of applied sciences can be traced back to the<\/div>\n
German Empire. In 1874, the “Fachschule f\u00fcr Dekomponieren, Komponieren und<\/div>\n
Musterzeichnen” (school of engineering and technical drawing) was established.<\/div>\n
Predecessor institutions of HTW Berlin include the Ingenieurhochschule Berlin (Berlin<\/div>\n
engineering school) of the GDR, which was founded in 1948. It became part of the<\/div>\n
Fachhochschule f\u00fcr Technik und Wirtschaft in October 1991. During this foundation phase,<\/div>\n
the university also took over the buildings and property of the former Hochschule f\u00fcr<\/div>\n
\u00d6konomie (Hf\u00d6 \u2013 College of Economics) in Berlin-Karlshorst.<\/div>\n
